The Two Stringed Paddle

Now we are getting somewhere with these instruments, this one looks the business and makes a pretty darn good sound, I will try and get something up on https://soundcloud.com/michael-fairfax soon, in the meantime you can still have a listen to some groovy tunes.

Check out the burr oak vaneer, humbucker pick up etc almost looks crafted by someone who knows what they are doing, well I almost do!!!!

I feel I am getting to the stage where I could make these to sale do email me if you are interested in sculpted instruments that play.  michaelfairfax@eclipse.co.uk

Christies Real Estate Magazine

What you might be asking?  Well the truth is there in an article in this very magazine, an article entitled 'Why Wood Works' a piece about artist/craftsmen who work in wood, who were collectible and who should be now and yes it is true I appear to be one to look out for and buy from, so yes come on and buy before my prices sky rocket!  So have a peep on this link:

Polden Pig Review

Yes I know, I thought it was the end of the Polden Pig after the closing of the Brewhouse, but just allow me this one moment of sheer pleasure as a friends son, who lives in Brighton reviewed a copy of the book.  His wonderful and thoughtful parents had purchased a copy from the Blurb site: http://www.blurb.co.uk/b/4038943-the-polden-pig   and he read it and from the glowing review obviously enjoyed it, my first review and what a corker.  Many thanks to Oscar.

Currents and landmasses

Okay so it hasn't all been pigs.  I have been working on a private commission, a series of slabs, blocks call them what you will, these are based on a previous series of works I created called slabs and tables.  The client recently bought four of these and now wants a further six.  This is the outcome as series of what seems to me flowing currents and landmasses, now whether this stems from my reading of 'The Old Paths' by Robert Macfarlane I am not sure, but I have certainly been knocked by his eddies through the Minch!  The book is magnificent, a joy of journey and literature, his writing is so so good, I am with him every inch of the way.
